Mubasher: France’s Total SA and US utility Sempra Energy on Monday announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop liquefied natural gas (LNG) export projects in North America.

The agreement aims at developing the Cameron LNG project in Louisiana, the US, and the Energia Costa Azul project in Mexico's Baja California, according to MarketWatch.

The French oil and gas firm may later sign an offtake agreement to purchase around 9 million tonnes per year of LNG from Sempra's projects in North America, and may take an equity stake in Energia Costa Azul, the two companies revealed.
