Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed Sunday down amid pressure from the real estate, telecommunications, and banks sectors.

The general index shed 0.53% or 26.49 points to close just above 5,000 points at 5,002.26 points.

Turnover amounted to AED 104.58 million down from AED 152.53 million on Thursday, while traded volume decreased to 55.12 million shares from 70.36 million.

The real estate sector dropped 3.02% after Aldar Properties and Eshraq Properties retreated 3.31% and 1.91%, respectively.

The telecommunications sector and its only stock Etisalat tumbled 0.81% each, while the banks sector declined 0.23% after First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) decreased 0.55%.

The consumer staples sector was the biggest faller, sliding 5.48%, dragged by Agthia's 8.19% plunge.

On the positive side, the energy sector ended in the green, adding 0.57% after Dana Gas grew 1.79%.
