Saudi crown prince instructs to renovate 130 historic mosques

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has commissioned the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) to renovate 130 historic mosques in the Kingdom over the next period.

This move is part of the “National Programme for the Care of Historic Mosques” which is under the supervision of the SCTH.

The SCTH and the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance will collaborate to implement this programme.

The first phase will include the development and expansion of 30 mosques in ten different regions across the Kingdom to comprise over 4,000 players with a cost of as much as SAR 50 million ($13.33 million), according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has also launched a programme for restoring and developing the old mosques in Diriyah and Historic Jeddah.
