Eurozone grows at 0.2%, EU28 at 0.3%

Mubasher: Gross domestic product (GDP) in the Eurozone rose 0.2% in the third quarter of 2018, while the growth rate came in at 0.3% in the 28-member European Union (EU28).

GDP growth in the second quarter rose 0.4% in the Eurozone and 0.5% in the EU28, flash estimates published on Wednesday by the Eurozone’s statistical office, the Eurostat, showed.

Year-on-year, GDP grew 1.7% in the Eurozone in the three-month period ended last September, and 1.9% in the EU28  after growing by 2.2% and 2.1% respectively in the previous three-month period, the data revealed.

The highest quarterly GDP growth rates were 1.9% in Romania, 1.8% in Latvia, 1.7% in Poland, with 1.2% in Hungary. 

In addition, the highest annual growth rates were seen in Poland by 5.7%, Latvia by 5.5%, and 5% in Hungary.
