Qatari investments in France reached QAR 72.8 billion

Mubasher: Qatari investments in France reached QAR 72.8 billion ($19.99 billion) in various fields including real estate and other megaprojects, the French ambassador to Qatar has said.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Qatar and France Business and Investment Forum, France Gellet said that there were more than 200 French companies operating in Qatar.

The two-day forum kicked off Sunday, 25 November and will target offering Qatari partners broader business and investment opportunities with France.

Moreover, the forum will bring for the first time a delegation of 60 leaders from major French groups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), specialising in the fields of agriculture and agro-food processes, logistics, new technologies, healthcare, and services to discuss new export and investment opportunities.

“Our country has major industries and many innovative and creative business solutions to offer. We also wish to highlight to big groups and French SMEs that Qatar is a country of constant new opportunities,” Gellet told Gulf Times

The bilateral trade between Qatar and France hit QAR 12 billion ($3.29 billion) in the past few years, he noted, adding that French exports to the Gulf country hiked 140% during the first nine months of 2018.

“Key reforms are implemented in order to reduce labour cost, to support employment, and to boost growth,” Gellet said.

In December 2017, the two countries signed several agreements and contracts worth EUR 12 billion ($13.61 billion) in trade, arms, and maintenance of the Doha metro.
