Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: Indian expats in the UAE account for the largest share of remittances, with around 39.6% of the total expat remittances in the first half of the year.

Data released by the Central Bank of the UAE revealed that Indians transferred around AED 34.83 billion to their homeland during the first six months of the year, from a total AED 88 billion for all nationalities.

Pakistanis came in second place with 8.5%, equivalent to AED 7.48 billion, followed by Filipinos with AED 6.25 billion (7.1%), and Egyptians with AED 4.75 billion (5.4%).

Americans accounted for 4.4% of the total expat remittances with AED 3.87 billion, while the British transferred AED 3.34 billion (3.8%).

Expats from Bangladesh (3.6%) and Jordan (2.6) followed with AED 3.16 billion, and AED 2.28 billion, respectively.
