Movenpick to run new hotel in Pakistan’s first smart city

Mubasher: Movenpick would manage a new hotel in the heart of Pakistan’s first smart city in its capital Islamabad, expanding its footprint in the country to four properties.

The hospitality company inked a deal with Smart Properties, a subsidiary of Future Development Holdings, one of Pakistan’s leading real estate developers.

Located near the capital’s new international airport, Islamabad Capital Smart City is a mixed-use development which comprises residential, retail, commercial, entertainment, and hospitality components.

The new property, under the name of Movenpick Hotel & Residences Capital Smart City, is set to open in 2023 and would feature 250 hotel rooms and 150 serviced apartments, four dining avenues, meeting facilities, a fitness centre and two swimming pools.

“With this new dynamic development set to become the hub for modern commercial activities and major local and international organisations, our newly-signed upscale property will be well positioned to cater to their needs, from short- to long-term accommodation options, complemented by attractive business and leisure facilities,” Movenpick’s chief development officer Andrew Langdon said.

Movenpick currently operates Movenpick Hotel Karachi, while having two more hotels under development, Movenpock Hotel Centaurus Islamabad, set to open next year and Movenpick Hotel & Apartments Lahore, mooted to be completed in 2021.
