Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has invested EGP 515 billion into the electricity sector since 2014, spokesperson of the electricity ministry said.

These investments were injected to meet the country’s demand for electricity, Ayman Hamza added told Alhayah TV.

Hamza also highlighted that the Arab world's most populous nation will achieve a surplus for export from its power connection deals with a number of countries, including Jordan, Libya, Sudan, Cyprus, and Greece.

Head of the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) previously said that Egypt had added new power plants with a production capacity of 25,000 megawatts to the national electricity grid during the period from June 2014 to June 2012, which achieved a surplus of 25%.
