Boursa Kuwait’s indices mixed in 2018; market cap up 6.5%
Boursa Kuwait’s turnover declined to KWD 4.13 billion in 2018

Mubasher: The indices of Boursa Kuwait closed the last session in 2018 on a mixed note when compared to its level in the beginning of April when the segmentation started.

The All-Share market went up 1.6% or 79.56 points to close 2018 at 5,079.56 points from 5,000 in April.

The Premier Market gained 5.4% or 267 points to close this year at 5,267.36 points compared to 5,000 points at the segmentation in April.

Meanwhile, the Main Market retreated by 5.2% or 261.4 points to reach 4,738.56 points.

In December, the All-Share and Premier markets went down 0.58% and 0.95%, respectively, while the Main market gained 0.18% when compared to the previous month.

At the sectors level, the technology segment topped six gainers with 64.2% on an annual basis, while the industrial sector led six decliners with 47.6%.

Boursa Kuwait’s turnover declined by 27.7% to KWD 4.13 billion ($13.63 billion) in 2018 compared to KWD 5.71 billion ($18.85 billion) in 2017.

The trading volume decreased by 57.5% to 21.37 billion shares from 50.22 billion in 2017.

In December, liquidity grew by 101.7% to KWD 574.61 million when compared to KWD 284.83 million in November after the trading volume increased by 27.9% to 1.94 billion shares from 2.49 billion.

Market cap rose by 6.5% or KWD 1.77 billion year-on-year to KWD 29.01 billion ($95.8 billion) in 2018 compared to KWD 27.24 billion in 2017.
