UAE banks invest AED 53bn in UK in 9M
Total investments of the Emirati lenders across the globe amounted to AED 693 billion ($188.7 billion) in the January-September period of 2018

Abu Dhabi — Mubasher: The UK has gotten the lion’s share of the UAE banks’ investments in the first nine months of 2018.   

The UAE banks, including their subsidiaries and affiliates, invested around AED 53 billion ($14.4 billion) in the UK in the January-September period of 2018.

Total investments of the Emirati lenders across the globe amounted to AED 693 billion ($188.7 billion) for the same period, state news agency WAM reported, citing the Central Bank of the UAE’s (CBUAE) data.

UAE banks have invested AED 47.2 billion ($12.8 billion) in Egypt and AED 40 billion ($10.89 billion) in Saudi Arabia.

The Cayman Islands, the US, India, and Oman have attracted investments from UAE banks amounting to AED 36 billion ($9.8 billion), AED 34 billion ($9.3 billion), AED 25 billion ($6.8 billion) and AED 20 billion ($5.4 billion), respectively.

The top countries investing in UAE banks led by Egypt with AED 12.6 billion ($3.4 billion), the Cayman Islands with AED 5.4 billion ($1.5 billion), and Saudi Arabia with AED 4.9 billion ($1.3 billion).
