Mubasher: Gold settled high on Wednesday, reaching its highest level since June 2018, as the uncertainty and volatility engulf Asia and the US equity markets.

Comex February gold gained $2.8, or 0.2%, to close at $1,284.1 per ounce.

“2019 is already getting off to a volatile start and we expect to see the political and economic uncertainty of 2018 continue and deepen, which will support gold,” research director at GoldCore Mark O’Byrne commented.

By 6:59 pm GMT, the US Dollar Index (DXY) levelled up 0.96% to 96.95.
