Abu Dhabi — Mubasher: First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) on Monday has announced that it will repay customers wrongly charged AED175 ($47.70) on their accounts.

The bank’s customers had complained on social media after they the fee was deducted from their accounts over the past few days but given little explanation, Arabian Business said, citing Reuters report.

Commenting on the issue, FAB, the UAE's largest bank, said on Facebook, “We are currently experiencing a system issue where a debit interest amount of 175 [dirhams] has been deducted from your account. The concerned team is currently working on the matter to resolve as soon as possible and reverse the charge.”

In July 2016, Abu Dhabi’s lenders First Gulf Bank (FGB) and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) had merged to create FAB, one of the largest banks in the Middle East and Africa.

During the first nine months of 2018, FAB’s operating income reached AED 14.6 billion, registering a 1% increase from the same period last year, including exceptional investment earnings of AED 400 million.
