Ex-UK Premier Brown to join Swiss equity firm

Mubasher:  Former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown will take up the role of adviser at Switzerland’s Partners Group, as part of its impact investing fund.

Following the path of major politicians moving into private equity advisory Brown, who was prime minister between 2007 and 2010, would join the fund’s advisory council that includes former United Nations General Assembly head Vuk Jeremić.

The Zug-headquartered fund manages $78 billion of assets, and founded its $1 billion impact fund PG Life last year.

Partner Group’s investment is directed mainly to the UN’s sustainable development goals, including eliminating poverty and access to healthcare and education.

“If even a relatively small proportion of global private equity funding is dedicated to contributing towards the UN SDGs, it could significantly contribute to closing the funding gap,” Brown said.
