Egypt is an important investment destination for Eni

Cairo – Mubasher: Italy-based Eni has invested around $13 billion in Egypt over the previous three years, the firm's CEO said.

Egypt is an important investment destination for Eni, the Egyptian cabinet said in a statement, citing Claudio Descalzi.

The Italian oil and gas producer aims to boost its presence in the North African country over the coming period, he added.

Production operations at Egypt's giant Mediterranean Zohr gas field are running smoothly, the official further indicated on the sidelines of a meeting with Egyptian prime minister Mostafa Madboly and petroleum minister Tarek El-Molla.

Eni is also providing social services for Egypt at a value of EGP 20 million as part of its corporate social responsibility, including the building of clinics and medical centres in Port Said, youth centres that offer vocational training, and specialised facility for treating burns.
