Kuwait’s currency in circulation rose 0.6% year-on-year in December 2018, according to data released by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) on Sunday.

The value of Kuwaiti dinar circulation amounted to KWD 1.76 billion ($5.81 billion) in December, from KWD 1.75 billion ($5.77 billion) in the same month in 2017.

Month-on-month, the GCC nation’s traded currency rose 18% to KWD 1.73 billion last month, against KWD 1.70 billion in the prior month.

The KWD 20 note dominated the circulation with a total value of KWD 1.03 billion, while the KWD 0.25 note was the least traded banknote with KWD 9.61 million by the end of 2018.

Meanwhile, the 100 fils coin ranked first among traded coins with a total value of KWD 12.28 million, while the one fils coin was the least traded coin with KWD 12,750 last month.

The CBK’s assets fell 4.1% month-on-month to KWD 10.79 billion in December, from KWD 11.25 billion.
