MENA’s clinical laboratory services market hits $10bn – Report
The report was published ahead of MEDLAB 2019

Dubai - Mubasher: The clinical laboratory services market in the Middle East & North Africa Region (MENA) is estimated at $8-$10 billion with a major increase in doctor’s decisions based on laboratory test results, according to a report released by Colliers International.

With a paradigm shift towards preventative care rather than curative care, the MENA’s clinical laboratory services market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6%-8% until 2025, the report found.

The report was published ahead of MEDLAB 2019, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 4 to 7 February, and welcome 19,600 medical laboratory trade professionals and 670 exhibitors from 46 countries.

“The increase in the number of patients will have a significant impact on the demand for clinical laboratory services in the UAE as the importance of the clinical laboratory industry continues to grow,” Colliers International’s director for Healthcare and Education —MENA, Mansoor Ahmed, commented.

Titled Clinical Laboratory Services in the MENA Region 2019, the report stated that the number of the Emirati inpatients and outpatients in Abu Dhabi and Dubai was forecast to increase from 29.3 million in 2016 to 95.3 million in 2030.

“Last year, more than $166 million worth of deals were signed at MEDLAB, highlighting the buoyancy of the clinical laboratory service market in the MENA region,” group exhibition director at MEDLAB Series, Tom Coleman, said.
