DHL expands presence in Jordan with $5.8m logistics centre

Mubasher: The leading global express and logistics provider DHL has opened a $5.8 million new logistics facility in Jordan, according to a company statement released on Wednesday.

Located in Amman’s Wadi Al Seer Industrial Area and situated on 7,584 square metres area, the new logistics centre is a part of the company’s strategy to invest $170 million in infrastructure developments across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

“Nothing gives me more pleasure than to be standing here in Amman in our 50th year opening a new facility along with our great customers and great employees - pretty much a perfect day,” DHL Express Global’s CEO, John Pearson, commented.

The new state-of-the-art building features a high-tech country-wide distribution centre capable of processing 9000 shipments a day, adding to DHL’s current shipment handling capacity by over 100%.

“Jordan is an important market for us in the region. We have continued to invest in Jordan seeing the market’s potential by bettering DHL’s capacities, technologies, flight frequencies, and customs clearance competencies,” DHL Express CEO – MENA, Nour Suliman, said.

With a 40-year foothold in the Middle East logistics industry, DHL is present in 19 countries in the MENA with more than 160 dedicated weekly flights, approximately 1,900 vehicles and a staff count of 5700 employees.
