Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE’s Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) has announced an initiative to reduce electricity consumption tariffs paid by expatriates, especially those who own villas and residential apartments in the coming period.

The new tariffs include four tranches, the first of which covers consumption until 2,000 kilowatts at a cost of 28 fils per kilowatt, while from 2,001 until 4,000 kilowatts will amount to 33 fils per kilowatt, according to the authority.

Consumption from 4,001 until 6,000 will amount to 37 fils per kilowatt, while consumption that exceeds 6,000 kilowatts will cost 43 fils per kilowatt.

January bills

The Emirati authority further noted that this amendment will be imposed on January 2019 consumption, which will be reflected in bills received early February.

It is noteworthy that this procedure will be beneficial to more than 35,000 expats, especially since over 70% of consumers are included in the first tranche.
