Mubasher: The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is conducting talks with Kuwait to co-host the 2022 World Cup with Qatar.

On the sidelines of the final match of the Crown Prince Cup, the FIFA President Gianni Infantino said it was too early to take a decision regarding the co-hosts, Al Qabas newspaper reported, citing the top official as saying on Monday.

The FIFA announced earlier that it had increased the size of the World Cup 2026 to 48 teams, noting that it was considering the possibility of increasing the teams in the World Cup 2022 to be hosted by Qatar.

In December, FIFA’s Infantino said that there were talks with Qatar over the possibility that its Gulf neighbours might be co-hosts in the World Cup 2022.

Earlier in January, Kuwait Football Association’s deputy chairman Ahmad Al-Enezi announced that the GCC nation would welcome co-hosting some matches in the World Cup 2022.
