UAE issues commemorative stamp to mark Pope Francis visit
The head of the Catholic Church has departed the UAE after his three-day visit to Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE's national postal service on Tuesday issued a commemorative stamp to mark Human Fraternity Conference held in Abu Dhabi between Pope Francis, head of the Catholic Church, and Dr. Ahmad el-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar Al Sharif.

The stamp is designed with the picture of the two prominent religious figures, Arabian Business reported, citing Emirates Post Group.

“We are proud to issue this commemorative stamp as a testimony of this visit and to show our pride in our nation’s experience and long legacy of peaceful coexistence,” Abdullah Al Ashram, acting group chief executive of Emirates Post, commented.

The stamp reflects the GCC nation’s vision to promote interfaith dialogue and the solidification of good and peace throughout the world.

“The historic visit of His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr Ahmed Al-Tayeb spreads a message of love, tolerance and peace around the world and aims to establish our homeland as the global capital for tolerance and coexistence,” Al Ashram added.

Demonstrating the humanitarian message of the UAE, the stamp will be offered at all Central Customer Happiness Centres for AED 3.

During the visit, the world’s tallest tower, Burj Khalifa, celebrated the momentous visit of Pope Francis in the UAE by lighting up with a special logo that represents inter-faith relations.

“Burj Khalifa celebrates the historic visit by Pope Francis, the leader of the Roman Catholic church as part of the Human Fraternity Meeting; a visit that reiterates UAE’s embodiment of the values of love and tolerance as the pathways for peace and security,” a post on the tower’s official Twitter account said.

Moreover, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, hailed the launch of the Human Fraternity Declaration signed by the Pope and Dr. Ahmad el-Tayeb which seeks to build bridges of love, amity and coexistence among peoples.

Pope Francis departs, with message for UAE President

The head of the Catholic Church has departed the UAE after his three-day visit to Abu Dhabi.

It is worth noting that Pope Francis’s visit took place during the period from 3 to 5 February, the first to any GCC country.

Over the three-day visit, he visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Zayed’s tomb, in addition to giving a speech during the International Interfaith Meeting, which was attended by more than 135,000 people from the UAE and neighbouring nations.
