Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s governorate of Asir has uncovered plans to implement various infrastructure projects worth several billion dollars over the coming period, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, citing governor Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz as saying.

The investments will cover the health, municipal, and transportation sectors, bin Abdulaziz added.

Two of the main projects will be in transportation. The first, worth SAR 4 billion ($1 billion), entails the expansion of the coastal road between Jeddah and Jazan that will link Asir to both Makkah and Jazan, whereas the other is worth SAR 6 billion ($1.6 billion) and will see the establishment of the Asir-Jazan road.

SPA also reported that a 1,000-bed project in King Faisal Medical City was making major headway. The project houses a specialised hospital, cardiac centre, tumour centre, and a centre for neurological sciences for children.

The King Faisal Medical City facility will serve Asir, Baha, Najran, and Jazan regions, SPA added.
