Saudi Omrania wins contest to design King Salman Park
King Salman Park will be built on the grounds of the old airport of Riyadh

Riyadh - Mubasher: Saudi-based Omrania announced that it won a contest to design King Salman Park, planned to be the world’s largest city park.

Spanning over an area of 13.4 square kilometres, King Salman Park will be built on the grounds of the old airport of Riyadh, Trade Arabia reported on Thursday.

The planned project was launched by Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on Tuesday along with three other leisure projects including Riyadh green project, the sportive lane, and Riyadh art project with a combined value of SAR 86 billion ($23 billion).

With multiple gardens covering an area of above 400,000 square metres, the giant park will also boast a 7.2-kilometre long circular pathway for pedestrians, a valley area of more than 800,000 square metres, and several water features totalling over 300,000 square metres.

King Salman Park will also feature hotels, residential areas, restaurants, royal arts complex, museums, theatres, cinemas, royal gold course, and sports venues.

The park will be connected to six main roads and highways in Riyadh as well as five metro stations on the Green Line and 10 bus stations in the Saudi capital.

Omrania has developed major projects in 12 countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region including Saudi Arabia and five European countries.
