QSE ends week in red; market cap grows slightly
The QSE’s liquidity shrank 46.09% to QAR 1.34 billion

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) general index inched down 0.17% or 16.83 points to 9,953.72 points by the week ended 21 March, compared to the week before.

The bourse’s market capitalisation grew 0.40% to QAR 563.32 billion ($154.77 billion) this week from QAR 561.07 billion ($154.15 billion) in the week ended 14 March.

Over the course of the week, the telecommunications sector was the only decliner with 0.96%, while the transportation sector topped gainers after adding 3.06%, followed by the real estate, banking, and industrials sectors which advanced 2.87%, 1.05%, and 0.95%, respectively.

The QSE’s liquidity shrank 46.09% to QAR 1.34 billion, against QAR 2.48 billion in the week ended 14 March, while trading volume dropped 38.98% to 46.15 million shares, compared to 75.63 million a week earlier.

The number of transactions fell 11.28% week-on-week to about 27,550 this week from nearly 31,060.
