Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian communications minister has signed an agreement with Houlin Zhao, the secretary-general of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), upon which Egypt will host the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (WRC-19) and the Radiocommunication Assembly 2019 (RA-19).

The huge event will be held outside Geneva, the headquarter of the ITU, for the first time in 20 years, Amr Talaat said in a statement.

International organisations have confidence in Egypt’s ability to organise key events, the minister said.

This conference will enable the North African state to cement the Egyptian telecom sector regionally and globally, Talaat highlighted.

The WRC-19 will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, starting 21 October to 26 November 2019.

Almost 3,500 experts and officials will take part in the conference, representing 160 countries, in addition to over 80 international firms and organisations operating in the field of telecommunication and IT.
