Mubasher: Gold settled lower at Thursday’s settlement, dragged down by a strong US dollar.  

Comex June gold declined $1, or about 0.1%, to close at $1,294.3 per ounce.

By 08:18 pm GMT, the US dollar index (DXY), which measures the US currency against a basket of six major currencies, rose 0.21% to 97.29.
