UAE holdings of US gov’t bonds slip in February
The UAE came in the 22th spot among the investors in the US Treasury bonds

UAE – Mubasher: The UAE has contracted its holdings of US Treasury securities by 2.67% month-on-month, or $1.5 billion, in February to $54.5 billion from $56 billion, data by the US Department of the Treasury showed.

Year-on-year, the state’s investment in the US debt instruments eased by 5.12% or $3 billion last February, versus holdings of $57.5 billion in February 2018, the US department added in a recent report.

The UAE came in the 22th spot among holders of the US Treasury bonds, while China topped the list with $1.130 trillion followed by Japan with holdings of $1.072 trillion.

Furthermore, Saudi Arabia led the Arab states with holdings of $167 billion in the US Treasury securities, according to the report.

It is worth noting that the UAE had narrowed down its holdings of the US Treasury bonds in January to $56 billion, versus $56.8 billion in December 2018.
