Egypt’s housing ministry to build EGP 500bn projects

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian New Urban Communities Authority has agreed to implement various development and services projects over 113 land plots spanning around 2,530 feddans in 24 new cities, the housing minister said on Sunday.

The projects will be established with about EGP 500 billion in investments and are expected to offer 450 indirect and direct jobs, Assem El-Gazzar added in a statement.

The minister also noted that the projects would provide a social return with further distinguishable services in the new cities.

The government is keen to provide land plots to meet the demand for investment requests that boost the development rate in new cities, El-Gazzar stressed.

For his part, Waleed Abbas, assistant housing minister for the NUCA, said that an educational project would be built over 35 plots of land spanning 502 feddans in 20 new cities and an integrated urban would be set up over 20 land plots extending over 1,553 feddans in 15 cities.

Moreover, the authority would build clubs in 15 new cities over 18 feddans of three land plots, Abbas indicated, adding that 11 land plots spreading 96 feddans were dedicated for medical projects.

He further said that three plots of land spanning 34 feddans were dedicated for activities related to social institutions and non-profit organisations in three cities, while 20 new cities would witness the establishment of commercial and administrative projects on 25 land plots over 48 feddans.

Furthermore, the government has also dedicated 16 land plots spanning 278 feddans in 12 new cities for logistics projects, Abbas indicated.
