Mubasher: Muscat-based Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company has awarded two contracts to Douglas OHI with a combined value of GBP 39.2 million

Douglas OHI, a joint venture (JV) of Interserve Group Ltd., will establish a refinery and petrochemical complex in the Duqm Special Economic Zone (SEZAD) in Duqm, Al Wusta Governorate.

Under the first deal, Douglas OHI will provide unidentified process units at the new Duqm refinery, including civil and underground piping to support installing of equipment, pipe racks, and specialist structures and networks across the project’s packages 1 and 2, according to Al-Anba newspaper.

In the same vein, the second agreement comprises implementing building integration works at the project site that includes construction and coordination of 23 buildings with a total area of 18,328 square metres, Interserve noted.

“Primarily designed to produce and recover naphtha, jet fuel, diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), the Duqm refinery will include units for hydrocracking, hydrotreating, delayed coking, sulfur recovery, hydrogen generation, and Merox treating,” according to Oil and Gas Journal.

Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company L.L.C is a Joint Venture (JV) between Oman Oil Company (OOC) and Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI), a subsidiary of state-run Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC).

Douglas OHI was established as a JV between British partners Interserve Group Limited and Oman Holdings International S.A.O.G.
