Gold levels up at Tuesday’s settlement

Mubasher: Gold ended higher on Tuesday, as US-China trade talks were on the verge of facing a deadlock.

Comex June gold rose $1.8, or 0.1%, to close at $1,285.6 per ounce.

Financial markets received this week a major blow from a surprise deterioration in the trade talks between the US and China, as the prospect of an escalation outran the chances of an end to the 10-month trade war that has roiled markets for a while.

By 08:42 pm GMT, the US dollar index (DXY), which measures the US currency against a basket of six major currencies, edged up 0.04% to 97.6.
