Egypt's finance ministry excludes some gov’t bodies from e-payment law
Amounts exceeding EGP 10,000 will be paid at banks

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s finance minister Mohamed Maait issued a ministerial decree excluding some state-run bodies from the electronic payment law.

The decree excluded several bodies from the e-payment law including economic authorities, Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund, the gold tax office for Central Cairo and North Sinai, public hospitals, educational institutions, and medical centres, according to a statement.

On 18 April, Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi approved the e-payment law to make all government transactions electronic.

Citizens are allowed to pay taxes and customs duties for amounts exceeding EGP 500 electronically and amounts exceeding EGP 10,000 at banks as of 1 May.
