The GCC nation’s state treasury will net annual revenue of KWD 200 million from these remittances

Mubasher: Total remittances from expatriates in Kuwait reached around KWD 19 billion over the previous five years, the financial committee of Kuwait’s parliament said.

The GCC nation’s state treasury will net annual revenue of KWD 200 million from these remittances in case of imposing a tax on these remittances in a bid to generate an additional income to boost the state’s turnaround efforts, the committee told Al Rai newspaper.

In the same vein, seven members of the parliament signed a memo to discuss the financial committee’s report on imposing fees on expats’ remittances.

The introduction of the fees on expats’ remittances will be applied on the back of the sizeable amount of money transferred abroad which hit KWD 4.2 billion, parliament member Safaa Al Hashim said.
