LG develops world’s 1st Arabic-supported AI televisions
LG’s 2019 TVs include conversational voice recognition feature

Mubasher: LG Electronics (LG) has announced the first Arabic voice service support in its 2019 televisions that are enabled with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

The 2019 TVs from LG come with unique ‘ThinQ AI platform’ which deploys a deep learning algorithm to allow a higher level of AI picture and sound quality.

Based on this new algorithm, LG’s TVs can analyse source content and recognise ambient conditions to deliver optimised content.

LG’s 2019 TVs include conversational voice recognition feature, now comes in Arabic, makes it easier than ever to source answers, simply by speaking into the remote control without additional hardware requirements.

Users will not have to make a series of repetitive commands to reach the desired results; just by understanding the context, the TVs allow for more complex requests, according to a recent press release.

The UAE will welcome LG’s new AI TVs this summer, supporting standard Arabic, in addition to the Saudi and UAE (GCC) dialect.

It is noteworthy that the UAE has been topping the GCC and the Middle East in launching initiatives for the AI technology as well as welcoming AI-enabled devices in the local market, as seen in Mubasher.info’s latest interview and feature on AI and the fourth industrial revelation (4IR) as well.

Furthermore, LG plans to equip its televisions with the Egyptian Arabic dialect in 2019.

Topping Arabic Natural Language Processing (NLP), the 2019 TVs also support embedded NLP for English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian.

“Users can change channels, alter the volume and adjust settings by simply using their voice. Content search functionality also enables users to discover the latest shows on Netflix and trending videos on YouTube,” the press release concluded.

President LG Electronics Middle East and Africa James Lee said: “The Middle East remains a key market for LG and we are keen to listen to our consumers’ needs – harnessing world-leading innovations in technology to provide local solutions, with people in mind.”
