Trump sees swift trade pact with China

Mubasher: US President Donald Trump predicted a “fast” resolution to the ongoing trade conflict with China, despite no high-level talks have been held since the last round of talks in Washington two weeks ago, according to CNBC.

“It’s happening, it’s happening fast and I think things probably are going to happen with China fast because I cannot imagine that they can be thrilled with thousands of companies leaving their shores for other places,” President Trump said during remarks at the White House.

It is worth noting that Trump is due to meet his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping at the Group of 20 summit next June in Japan.

Both sides have laid the collapse of the bilateral trade talks at the door of one another, as they were almost close to an end to a protracted conflict featured by retaliatory tariff actions.

The comments came in a press conference in which a plan to support the US famers with a $16 billion aid package to weather the trade dispute with China was unveiled.
