Egypt’s cotton exports hike 53% in Q2 – CAPMAS
Cotton exports amounted to about 579,300 metric kantar

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's cotton exports soared by 52.6% year-on-year during the second quarter of planting season 2018/2019, according to a statement by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Sunday.

The North African nation’s cotton exports amounted to about 579,300 metric kantar (one kantar is equal to 45.02 kilograms) from December 2018 to last February, compared to nearly 379,700 metric kantar in the year-ago period.

The CAPMAS added that around 36,600 metric kantar of domestic cotton has been consumed in the three-month period, falling by 22.5% from about 47,200 metric kantar in the same period a year earlier.
