Mubasher: Oman’s master developer of the major integrated economic city in Barka, Khazaen Economic City (KEC), is set to announce the Detailed Master Plan of the new city in the coming days.

The detailed designs of the 52 million square metres city have reached “a very advanced stage”, CEO of KEC Khalid bin Awadh al-Balushi said, according to the Oman News Agency (ONA).

The first construction contracts will be awarded and construction works will commence in the second half of 2019, he added.

KEC’s announcement comes a few days after signing the first investment agreements with the international investor for the building of two production plants in Khazaen.

“Over the last months, we have focused on building Khazaen’s unique selling proposition as the region’s leading new investment destination,” al-Balushi commented.

Khazaen is the largest public and private partnership (PPP) project in the Sultanate of Oman.

The first phase of the megaproject will include state-of-the-art facilities, including the first dry port in Oman, free zone, logistics and industrial complexes, social infrastructure, residential, commercial, and entertainment components.
