Oman’s 2040 tourism plan to revive on new royal decree
The royal decree would attract further foreign investments into the governorate

Mubasher: The Sultanate of Oman has issued a new decree that grants tax exemptions for tourism projects in the Omani governorate of Musandam that came into effect as of 1 June, according to the Minister of Tourism.

The Omani government also plans to introduce more than 30 plots of land in the governorate to investors, Times of Oman reported, citing the tourism ministry.

Ahmed Al Mahrazi, Minister of Tourism, said: “The Ministry of Tourism owns 32 tourist land plots in Musandam and has applied for an additional 16 for investment. These will be presented to tourism investors as soon as the procedures are completed.”

Al Mahrazi projected that the royal decree would attract further foreign investments into the country.

“Musandam’s development strategy for 2040, aims to increase the number of tourists from 300,000 to 1.2 million by 2040. In order to achieve this goal, it requires new tourism investments to accommodate the growing tourism movement in the governorate,” the minister said.

Musandam has been chosen by the ministry among its priorities in the development of sustainable tourism in line with the Omani strategy, he added.
