Mubasher: Total bank deposits held by people residing in Kuwait rose 1.33% to KWD 43.34 billion ($142.86 billion) in April from KWD 42.77 billion ($140.98 billion) in the same month a year earlier, according to data released by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK).

The growth in residents’ deposits was ascribed to a 4.1% rise in private sector deposits, reaching KWD 34.46 billion last April, compared to KWD 33.09 billion in the prior-year period, while government deposits levelled down 3.16% to KWD 6.42 billion against KWD 6.63 billion.

Month-on-month, residents’ deposits inched up 0.39% from KWD 43.17 billion in March.

Year-on-year, non-residents’ deposits surged 26.65% to KWD 5.56 billion in April from KWD 4.39 billion.
