Kuwait Education Fund logs 56% return on investments – KAMCO

Mubasher: The Kuwait Education Fund (KEF), a private equity fund aimed at supporting and developing education in Kuwait’s private and public sectors, registered a 56% return on investment (ROI), KAMCO Investment Company said in a statement on Monday.

The yield was generated since the KEF’s establishment in April 2007 until it was fully liquidated in November 2018the statement added.

KAMCO, the fund’s manager and liquidator, reported that in addition to achieving impressive returns yielded, the Fund distributed cash dividends of $19 million to the unitholders in 2017, representing proceeds from partially exiting some of the Fund's investments.

 “Despite the difficult and volatile economic conditions during the financial crisis, the prudent investment decisions taken by KEF’s Fund Manager and the successful exit strategies that target securing the Fund's capital, have contributed to the profitable returns on investments to its unitholders,” the statement added.

The KEF’s Net Asset Value (NAV) reached $40 million on 25 November 2018.

The KEF was established to invest in distinct educational programmes in Kuwait and abroad, along with preserving capital and earning returns from unique investment opportunities.
