Mubasher: Car deliveries for Volkswagen's (VW) Škoda brand fell by 6.6% year-on-year in May, dragged down by weaker sales in China, its biggest auto market.

Global deliveries for the Czech carmaker came in at 104,900 units last May, compared with 112,400 in the same month of the prior year.

Deliveries in China, which made up nearly a fifth of last month’s deliveries, plunged by 31.5% year-on-year in May, with 21,100 vehicles delivered.

Meanwhile, Škoda’s auto sales grew by 2.5%, 3.5% and 10.8% in Western, Central and Eastern Europe, at 45,300, 20,000, and 4,900 delivered units, respectively.

In Russia, the number of delivered vehicles surged by 16.9% to 7,000 units last month, compared with 6,000 deliveries a year ago.
