Mubasher: The energy and transport stocks in the UAE stock markets shed sharply on Thursday following the explosion of oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman.
By 11:45 am UAE time, the energy index in the UAE fell by 1.56%.
Dana Gas led declining energy stocks in the Abu Dhabi Securities (ADX) by 3.07% to AED 0.92, its lowest level since 22 May.
The ADX lost 39.26 points, or 0.79%, to 4,951.59 points.
Meanwhile, the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) fell 1.35% or 36.06 points to 2,627.49 points.
The transport sector in the DFM went down 1.16% pressured by Aramex which fell 1.66% to AED 4.15, its lowest level since 3 March.
Earlier this day, it was reportedly announced that two tankers were damaged in suspected attacks in the Gulf of Oman and the crew have been evacuated.
