Japan grants Egypt $18m to support healthcare sector
The project will serve about 90,000 patients annually

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt signed a grant deal worth $18 million with Japan to establish a new building for outpatient clinics of Abu Rish Children’s Hospital.

The grant aims to improve medical services provided to children, Egypt’s investment minister Sahar Nasr said in a statement on Sunday.

The project will serve about 90,000 patients annually, Nasr added.

The total value of financing obtained by Egypt from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) registered $2.4 billion directed to several projects in power, archaeology, education, health, civil aviation, and irrigation sectors, senior representative of JICA, Akihiro Iwasaki, said.

Nasr called on the Japanese side to increase their investments, noting that there are 106 Japanese companies operating in Egypt.

During fiscal year 2018/2019, Japanese investments in Egypt hiked by 74% from the prior fiscal year, she revealed.
