EGX ends Wednesday in red; market cap loses EGP 3.6bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Wednesday’s trading session with a sideways-to-declining performance.  

The benchmark EGX30 index fell by 0.5% to finish the session at 14,132 points.

Meanwhile, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 index retreated 0.07% to close at 603.85 points, while the broader EGX100 index slid by 0.15% to 1,541 points.

In addition, the equal-weighted EGX50 index dropped by 0.65% to close at 2,090.85 points.

Market capitalisation lost about EGP 3.6 billion to EGP 753.43 billion on Wednesday, compared to EGP 757.03 billion on Tuesday.

Trading volume amounted to 92.59 million shares at a turnover of EGP 1.37 billion through around 15,170 transactions.

Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 337.87 million and EGP 1.04 million, respectively, while foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 338.91 million.
