Alexandria Customs issues clearance for EGP 3.7bn cars, spare parts in June
A total of 7,102 cars valued at EGP 1.974 billion were released

Cairo – Mubasher: Alexandria Customs has collected total taxes of EGP 957 million for issuing customs clearance for cars and spare parts at a combined value of EGP 3.7 billion in June, the Egyptian finance ministry said in a statement on Monday.  

The state-run body has collected total taxes of EGP 518 million for releasing 7,102 cars with a total value of EGP 1.974 billion in the sixth month of introducing zero tariffs on cars imported from the European Union (EU).

Some of these cars were exempted from the payment of more than EGP 700 million under the EU-Egypt association agreement and Agadir agreement.

In addition, Alexandria Customs has collected taxes and charges of EGP 205 million for releasing 1,769 minibuses, motorcycles, and tractors valued at EGP 895 million in June.

Some of these vehicles were also exempted from EGP 54 million under the EU-Egypt association agreement and Agadir agreement.

The state-run body also collected taxes and charges of EGP 106 million for releasing 870 spare parts valued at EGP 819 million, while some dispatches were exempted from the payment of EGP 23 million.
