Mubasher: Gold settled near stability on Tuesday, as the US dollar went up.

Comex August gold inched up $0.5, or 0.04%, to settle at $1,400.5 per ounce.

By 08:13 pm GMT, the US dollar index (DXY), which measures the US currency against a basket of six major currencies, increased by 0.14% at 97.52.
