Saudi Council of Ministers approves E-Commerce Law
The new law aims at enhancing the reliability of e-commerce across the kingdom

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s Council of Ministers has approved the Electronic Commerce Law (E-Commerce Law) on Tuesday’s meeting, Saudi Gazette reported.

The new law aims at enhancing the reliability of e-commerce across the kingdom in a bid to increase the national economy and to achieve the Saudi Vision 2030.

The law, which is the first of its code in the kingdom, will also stimulate and boost e-commerce activities in the GCC nation.

Moreover, it will regulate the relationship between consumers and those e-commerce practitioners who do not have a commercial registration.

“The law aims to enhance the reliability of business transactions, stimulate and develop e-commerce activities and protect all rights of consumers and safeguard them from fraud, deception and misleading,” Majed Al-Qasabi, Saudi Minister of Commerce and Investment, commented on the law.

He added that strengthening the e-commerce system is one of the objectives of the National Transformation Program.

It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia is one of the top 10 countries across the world in terms of e-commerce growth rate, exceeding 32% per year.
