Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The government of the UAE has signed an agreement with Emirates Telecommunications Group (Etisalat) to offer e-Dirham services on the company’s official portal.

This deal has come in line with the UAE Ministry of Finance’s policy to cooperate with various government and private entities within a goal of enhancing and developing digital payment solutions to customers in the UAE.

Based on this agreement, the corporate customers of Etisalat will be able to make their payments electronically through the e-Dirham system by using Etisalat’s digital channels, a new addition to the digital payment solutions in the UAE, according to a press release on Wednesday.

The ministry’s undersecretary Younis Haji Al Khoori highlighted that “The e-Dirham system establishes a national identity brand that develops the country's payment systems. Growing the e-Dirham network supports the objectives of the UAE's digital economy agenda and enhances the nation’s competitiveness level in advanced business models.”

Customers using the e-Dirham system will benefit from fixed competitive fees services, in addition to the possibility of paying services fees through various channels like mobile phone applications, digital wallets, and self-service kiosks across the UAE.

Group head of personal banking at First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) Hana Al Rostamani commented, “As a strategic partner of the Ministry of Finance and the e-Diham system, First Abu Dhabi Bank is committed to developing and upgrading the system to reach global ranks in digital payment networks. This agreement with Etisalat aims to expand the scope of e-Dirham services, and represents joint cooperation between the government and private sector.”
