Blue-chip stocks weigh on ADX Thursday
Trading volume amounted to 84.92 million shares

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The declining blue-chip stocks have dragged down the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) on Thursday.

By the end of today’s trading session, the ADX’s general index slipped 21.59 points, or 0.42%, to 5,097.17 points.

Trading volume amounted to 84.92 million shares exchanged through 1,952 transactions at a turnover of AED 262.17 million.

The consumer staples sector led the losers with 1.52% followed by the telecommunication sect, down 0.85%.

Similarly, the banks sector shed 0.42% as First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) went down by 0.26% and 0.80%, respectively.

On the other hand, the real estate sector added 0.67% as Aldar Properties increased by 1.10%, and the energy sector inched up 0.08% backed by Dana Gas that levelled up 0.97%.

Market capitalisation lost AED 3.039 billion and closed the session at AED 520.251 billion.

The ADX previously announced a four-day break in celebration of Eid Al Adha, starting from Sunday, 11 August until Wednesday, 14 August.
