Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said that the Egyptian industrial production, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, surged annually by 21.6% during the fourth quarter of 2018.
The industrial production amounted to EGP 188.8 billion in Q4-18 when compared to EGP 155.3 billion in the corresponding quarter in 2018, CAPMAS disclosed on Monday.
Coke (fuel grade) and oil products group topped the risers with 24%, followed by the iron, steel, metal casting and precious metals industry with 21.2%, and the food industry with 19.2%.
Ready-made garment group surged by 35.1% year-on-year to EGP 4.5 billion in Q4-18 from EGP 3.3 billion in Q4-17.
Food production reached EGP 36.2 billion in Q4-18, 24.7% higher than EGP 29 billion a year earlier.
Paper production totalled EGP 5.3 billion during the October-December period, compared to EGP 4.3 billion, with a 23.6% year-on-year rise.
