Mubasher: Remittance outflows in Kuwait declined during the first half (H1) of the year by 2.94%, according to a Mubasher survey.

The survey, based on the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) most recent data, shows that remittance recorded KWD 2.150 billion ($7.1 billion) during H1-19, compared with KWD 2.215 billion ($7.314 billion) in the same period last year.

In the second quarter (Q2) of 2019, remittance outflows reached KWD 1.202 billion and totalled KWD 947.9 million in Q1-19.

A policy by the Kuwaiti government to support the local workforce has helped reduce the number of foreign labour, especially since duties have been imposed on remittance outflows.

Last year, the Kuwaiti parliament legislative committee passed a number of rules that limit the share of foreign labour from a certain country not to exceed 10% of the total immigrant workers in Kuwait.
