Egypt’s sovereign fund portfolio nears EGP 60bn

Cairo – Mubasher: Current asset under management (AUM) in the portfolio of the Sovereign Fund of Egypt (Tharaa) total around EGP 50-60 billion, said Executive Director Ayman Soliman.

In a roundtable on Monday, Seleman noted that the fund aims at developing and maximizing resources for future generations, as well as to enhance investors’ confidence through partnerships.

Tharaa will not be a competitor to investors, the director noted, adding that to create investment opportunities across many sectors, and will work on empowering the private sector.

The fund enjoys a large asset portfolio and it is working to communicate with the National Investment Bank (NIB), state-run banks, and the Ministry of Public Business Sector to discuss cooperation.

Meetings were held with local and foreign investment banks, as well as a number of local, Arab, and foreign investors in Egypt, he further revealed, indicating that over the course of the next two weeks, more talks will be held to discuss investment opportunities.

Meanwhile, BNP Paribas will organize a meeting for the fund with a number of investors from China, East Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
